PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Targon-GEAN
Decatur (Atlanta), GA
Data Systems Analyst
October, 2001 - Present
- Redesigned the website you're reading right now.
- Designed and built a custom Content Management System for The Enalnewsletter using PHP and PostgreSQL.
- Built a a command line tool that allows us to contact a varible number of people in our databases.
- Designed and implemented Database systems in Lotus Approach, MS Access, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Redesigned the Lotus Approach sales and sales management databases. Additional scripting was required to allow for expansion of the databases due to a ~40K character limit in Approach memo fields. Other work-arounds were necessary due to problems inherent in Lotus Approach since v 3.1, centering around user interface file corruption.
- Performed sales actions for the Primary Aluminum and supporting industries.
- Developed and documented daily operating procedures and problem solutions, including: restarting the internal network after power outages, working with the Targon-GEAN owned web sites, sharing files across the Atlantic, and setting up Email to use heronetwork.com's secure email servers.
- Revamped and Expanded the internal office Network: ran, cut, and crimped cat5e according to standard, added switches where appropriate.
- I currently develop and oversee 6 websites owned by GEAN, along with other websites I use for non-production development. Under this gease I have written various PERL, PHP, shell and javascript scripts.
- I perform all maintenance on all PC hardware in the office, and most of the personal hardware at my users' homes.
- Spec'ed, purchased, and built:
- Linux FileServer using x86 parts (2 X 80GB IDE harddrives RAIDed in a simple mirroring -level 1- configuration using Linux's Software RAID capabilities; MSI Via chipset mainboard; 1.2 GHz Celeron; LinkSys 10/100 NIC; 768MB PC100 RAM; and a Matrox graphics card; OS: CentOS 4.1)
